Interview WIth Valerie
How We began
* From an Interview with Valerie Hinton The owner
When did you decided you wanted to open a store
I first decided to open up a shop because I worked with my mom in her business. I helped her, and then I ended up working with an interior designer because she met me in my mom's shop in 1994. It was maybe a year or two before I opened up my own shelter. I worked for her for a little bit, so 94, I worked for the interior designer, and then from that point, I felt like.. I really wanted to combine the two, the interior element of it, and then the antique and the furnishings to create space
How did you find this location and when did you open?

my parents had a home that they wanted to sell, and it had been, like, sitting forever because at that time, real estate was really slow, and I asked them if it would be okay if I went in and painted it and decorated it and then. And it took me six months. I painted the outside, the inside, furnished everything, painted everything, and, you know, I felt like at that time, my mom saw my talents and my passion. And she found this location. And that's how it all started.
April 1st, 1995. it's April Fool's day. My mom's store (Come C Antiques) anniversary was April 1st
She always said, You have to be a fool to open up your own business.

How Has the store changed over the years?
(In the begining) I did a lot of hand-painted stuff. I did a lot of painting, like, painted walls. I did a lot of interior design for others in their homes and floors, Susan and I were painting a lot of floors. We did a lot of walls, and then I also did furniture for people that were, you know, hired me to do that.
Having children definitely changed what I was carrying in the shop because everything was children stuff.
Then when my girls got a little older I had my ah ha moment. I'm gonna be open once a month so I could be raise my family..we had the Paris flea Market because I wanted to be with (my daughters) and pick (them) up from school at 3 o'clock
And then it went from that to when she passed in 2017, the shop changed again because we joined forces with my dad. And now, our next phase is to invite other have events and celebrate music to include other community members.
What is Come C Interiors To you?
“The shop to me is like music is to you. It's my creative outlet. It's a creative way of putting emotion into it, which to me is like, for me, when people come in, a lot of people talk about how they feel at peace, they feel tranquility and that gives me such great joy because I have created that space that they're in. So to me, it is an art form. It's a creative outlet for me. It's not necessarily about. It's about finding special things that make people happy”

what are you the most excited about for this next era of Come C Interiors?
I'm really excited about people sharing their gifts with the community
